This 162 km rail upgrade is under construction in Romania. It comprises 160 km/h design speed. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. CFR SA is delivering the project, with Aktor, FCC Construction and Salcef as main contractors. Under construction since 2023, the line is scheduled to open in 2028, with an investment of EUR 1.8 bn (~USD 2.0 bn).
Construction began in 2023, with completion expected in 2028.
The project has an estimated investment of €1.80B.
