CFR SA Bucharest–Giurgiu Railway Electrification & ERTMS (Lot 2) is a rail upgrade project in Romania, currently under construction.
This 93.45 km electrification programme upgrades the existing Romania corridor to 25 kV AC 50 Hz. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. CFR SA is delivering the project, with Alstom and Arcada Company as main contractors. Under construction since 2025, the line is scheduled to open in 2028, with an investment of EUR 450 m (~USD 495 m).
Construction began in 2025, with completion expected in 2028.
The project has an estimated investment of €450M.
