This 870 km conventional rail line is under construction in Latvia. It comprises 249 km/h design speed. The line uses 2×25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. RB Rail AS (joint implementing body registered in Riga, Latvia) is delivering the project, with Merko Ehitus Eesti / GRK Eesti / NGE Contracting / TSO SAS consortium, Budimex SA / Ferrovial consortium and COBELEC Rail Baltica (Cobra IS + Elecnor) as main contractors. Under construction since 2019, the line is scheduled to open in 2030, with an investment of EUR 15.3 bn (~USD 16.7 bn).
Construction began in 2019, with completion expected in 2030.
