This 2.5 km extension completes the Florence Tram Line T2, linking the airport directly to the historic San Marco Square. The City of Florence inaugurated the section in January 2025, adding six new stations to the network and reducing daily car traffic by an estimated 9,000 vehicles. The project required complex utility diversions and archaeological supervision to integrate with the city's central arteries.
Construction began in 2023 and the project opened in 2025.
