This 1047 km rail upgrade has been approved in Iraq. It comprises 115 stations. The line uses diesel traction, ERTMS Level 2 signalling and 1435 mm standard gauge. Iraqi Republic Railways (IRR) and Ministry of Transport are delivering the project. Target opening is 2032, with an investment of USD 930 m.

Completion is expected in 2032.
