Algiers Suburban Rail Electrification (Algiers–El Affroun & Thénia) is a rail upgrade project in Algeria, currently operational.
This electrification programme upgrades the existing Algeria corridor to 25 kV AC 50 Hz. The line uses 25 kV AC 50 Hz electrification and 1435 mm standard gauge. SNTF is delivering the project, with Alstom as main contractor. It opened in 2010, with an investment of EUR 88 m (~USD 100 m).
Construction began in 2004 and the project opened in 2010.
The project has an estimated investment of €88M.
