S-Bahn Hamburg, founded in 1997 and headquartered in Hamburg, is the wholly-owned DB Regio AG subsidiary operating the Hamburg S-Bahn commuter rail network on behalf of the city and Schleswig-Holstein. With around 1,500 employees, it runs six lines and is the principal operator of Germany's second-largest S-Bahn system after Munich, integrated into the HVV regional tariff.
